Taiwan is a country we don't hear about often, but it is worth knowing that it's a place of a very well-developed online gaming scene.
Also, seldom do we hear about operators and software developers venturing there, but one of them, bearing the name of valor and pride, has indeed done just that.
Going Live With Social Gaming
Scandinavian iGaming masters, Yggdrasil, will be the ones setting afoot in Taiwan, thanks to their brand-new partnership deal with social gaming operator, XSG...
...This landmark deal will deliver a select few of Yggdrasil's slot games (with more to come in the future, probably) to players in this East Asian country via XSG's brand 08online, which a social gaming site that does not allow any real money play.
With more than 25 million inhabitants, Taiwan is a potentially very lucrative market for the Malta-based giants who have been kept very busy over the last few years, constantly releasing new titles, conquering new markets and expanding their business.
Everyone's First
Fredrik Elmqvist, Yggdrasil CEO, commented: “This deal marks Yggdrasil’s first entry into Taiwan and it is a pleasure to have partnered with the territory’s leading social gaming operator. XSG’s 08-online platform has both a leading reputation and a loyal player base, and we are certain our games will prove popular. Taiwan also provides Yggdrasil with an excellent base from which to observe developments in the broader Asian market.”
XGS's CEO and co-founder, Stanley Ku, said: “To be the first operator to bring Yggdrasil’s fantastic casino slots content to Taiwan is an affirmation of XSG’s track record and business development capabilities. It also speaks about the present state of Taiwan’s gaming market, which is now mature enough to start garnering attention worldwide. As with this agreement with Yggdrasil, XSG will continue to bring the best content from across the globe to ensure Taiwanese players experience a truly world-class gaming offering.”

The East Asian iGaming Scene is ripe for the companies that have the vision and connections to get in early to take advantage of such a big, yet mostly, untapped Taiwanese Market. I would love to play more Yggdrasil but unfortunately, being a player from the US makes it impossible for me to get behind any of their wonderful releases. Hopefully, the Taiwanese Market will start to open many more doors that are at the moment shut off and bring the Yggdrasil Brand out to us players who are eager to get in on their action!! I would one of those players, but for now, it's just a dream :)

Did I mentioned Yggdrasil is going global? Yes I did and this is the proof. Well well well, Microgaming, NetEnt and others, here comes Yggdrasil. I really think it's awesome that more countries will know the existence of this grand games developer. There's no need to tell how great their games are because we already knew...

Maybe more of these “underground” markets will come to be prominent when big names such as Yggdrasil enter the game. We will see, but it's a smart move on their behalf I think.
