Back Quickspin's July Release Vampire Senpai Inspired by Jiangshi

Days after launching its June release, Arcane Gems, filled with treasure boxes, diamonds, jewels and other valuables, Quickspin, a Playtech subsidiary, is set to uncover Vampire Senpai, the studio’s next big hit.

It is scheduled for July 14th and its story features hopping vampires coming straight from the Chinese folklore. The so-called “Jiangshi” or the undead creatures pray on humans to drain their life force, appearing on the reels with outstretched arms and stiff posture, typical for haunted living things.

Unlike its predecessor, Arcane Gems, this slot machine is played out in a wider configuration or 5x5 reel setup. There is a host of authentic features on offer, including Turning Wilds, Talisman Mystery Wilds, as well as the Reanimated Extra Spins.

A Walk on the Wild Side

Apart from its cartoon visuals and fun-scary animations, Vampire Senpai is characterized with a relatively fast tempo, carrying a whopping 8,894x maximum win potential. The grid is backed with 40 active win lines and the mechanics are tweaked perfectly by using the latest HTML5 technology from Quickspin’s barrage. This slot is avaliable in both desktop and mobile version, featuring medium volatility levels and an RTP of 96.19% which is slightly above the average value.

There are three main symbols on the board, including the wild vampire, a lady, a green guy, a purple guy and royals. Players must land between three to five matching icons to generate a win, while the wild can pay out double amounts during the bonus round. Similar mechanics, engine and payout capabilities are also present in Diamond Duke, Quickspin’s May release with a 5x5 grid and 8,575x total bet exposure.

In relation to features, this game mostly relies on the wild image, and as stated above, there are three variants of it. By landing a vampire on the reels, any surrounding medium icons will be converted into a Turning Wild. This sequence continues as long as there are mid-sized symbols on the board.

Next, it’s the Talisman Wild which can appear on reels 1 – 4 on any spin, stretching from 3 to 9 icons. These images do not appear on the reels during base play. However, getting 3, 4 or 5 scatters will initiate complimentary rounds where Vampire Wilds remain on the reels for the entire duration and jump to a different reel position at the beginning of a new rotation. Players can get either 7, 8 or 9 extra spins, depending on how many bonus icons emerge on the playboard.

Adapted in Lighthearted Way

Last but not least, landing a Talisman Wild in the Reanimated Extra Spins round will lock the symbol until the end of the cycle and even award an additional spin. Here’s what Mark Smith, Quickspin’s producer had to say about the studio’s upcoming release:

“The concept for Vampire Senpai came to us from our own game designer Sammy Wong, who told us the Chinese legend of the “Jiangshi”, a zombie-like vampire that is so stiff, it can only move by hopping around with outstretched arms, killing any creature it comes across in order to absorb its qi or life force. Sounds frightening? Do not worry. Quickspin has adapted this theme in a very lighthearted way, making the game more playful and appealing to everyone.”

Smith added that Vampire Senpai will appeal to an even broader audience due to its comedic tone on a traditionally dark theme that is carefully packed with plenty of suspense and anticipation.
