Have you seen the latest Play’n GO release, a 3-reel video slot titled Charlie Chance in Hell to Pay? It hit the market on May 21st, two weeks after Agent Destiny and top-performing titles in April such as Annilihator, Ring of Odin and That’s Rich. However, it’s not even close to anything we had seen before, a true animated comedy adventure in retro style inspired by the works of animators such as Max Fleischer.
The famous American animator, inventor, film director and producer pioneered in the development of the animated cartoon and came up with classic popular characters Betty boop and Popeye.
Nonetheless, Charlie Chance is an entirely new character by from the brand, whose goal in this 3D video slot is to outwit the devil and win her fortune before landing in hot, boiling water.
Breaking the Mould
Apart from the animated theme and story, Charlie Chance in Hell to Pay is decorated with traditional fruit symbols, five active win lines and three rows. It is a medium volatility game with an RTP of 96.23% intended for casual players with a decent budget hoping for stable payouts.
As previously stated, this game is unlike anything players have seen from the supplier, since it seems that Play’n GO decided to go one step further in development and deliver a truly astonishing and original product with innovative content, features as well as special prizes. The game’s main attractions are extra spins, win spins and multipliers, including a bonus board mode when Charlie takes a trip along the board to trigger specific highlights – instant cash prizes, respins, random wilds and so forth.
Johan Tornqvist took time to comment the studio’s latest release and point out why it combined the magic of classic fruit machines with a modern design and gamification format:
“Charlie Chance offers a lot to the slot market. It’s a simple game, with lots of fun features and great animation to delight and entertain players. It is a perfect merging of the classic fruit machine experience and more modern mechanics and gameplay, the ideal opportunity for older and newer generations of players to get an experience of each other’s worlds, while still enjoying their own.”
Golden Era of Animation
The classic design of Charlie Chance in Hell to Pay is inspired by the likes of Fleischman Studio and Disney animations of the 20s and 30s in the 20th century. The studio has deliberately picked the golden era of animation due to its tendencies to distribute a timeless hit and enrich the industry with an inventive and artistic product. Available on desktop and mobile devices, this slot is also supported in more than 37 languages, four operating systems and five web browsers for maximum comfort and playability.
Such is the case with Annihilator as well, a heavy metal slot that successfully extended the series along with Testament (March 2020), House of Doom and Sabaton, launched last year.
Among other titles that joined the supplier’s portfolio and instigated accelerated production are Coywolf Cash, Leprechaun Goes Wild, Dawn of Egypt, Fortunes of Ali Baba, Riches of Robin and Sticky Joker.

I played this game not too long ago and really enjoyed the off beat look of the graphics and the features. It sort of reminds me a little of Play N Go's Fire Joker game, but it is definitely more creative in terms of it's graphics and the various features one can hit and win on. I had a bit of a streak with it at first...

I had a bit of a streak with it at first but then that fell flat and stopped delivering...but it was a good ride while it lasted.

I was instructed by my good friend, fan of this game and lover of succulents to say I like this game a lot. I don't really like Play'n GO much, but this one looks great!

This is really online anything I’ve ever seen before; it’s clearly made for fun though so why not give it a go? I am simply stunned and amazed where slot development is going nowadays.

I'm always up to try most new three reeled slots and this game seems like an interesting one to check out from Play'n GO. Hopefully the folks at Play'n GO did some justice to the theme with some decent graphics, as I'm a Max Fleischer fan. Hopefully the folks at Play'n GO did some justice to the theme with some decent graphics, as I'm a Max Fleischer fan. If you're going to say that the theme of this game is inspired by his work, then count me in for some time giving this new game a proper go to see how inspired Play'n GO was by such a classic artist.
