The award-winning Malta-headquartered slot specialist Nolimit City has continued to produce games that will be talked about for months to come. The way they decided to kick-start the year is by releasing San Quentin xWays, a prison-themed game whose central theme is one of the most infamous rehabilitation facilities in the world.
Some of the company’s previous games like Punk Rocker served as the basis for this one in terms of sheer chaos and ramped up atmosphere. San Quentin xWays is high-octane, relentless and unforgiving.
Oozing With Aggression
The game features the gritty prison yard in the background as well as a repertoire of colorful personalities like Crazy Joe Labrador, Heinrich 3rd and Beefy Dick.
One of these convicts will be assigned to the player at the beginning of each session…
…which only amplifies the theme that’s a bit out of the norm and also quite aggressive in its setting. Nolimit City’s unconventional nature pushes the boundaries further and goes to where studios rarely go before.
This controversial slot consists of a 5x3 grid with 243 paylines which can expand to 5x5 reel with over 250 thousands ways to win. San Quentin xWays features has multiple features buy functions that can lead to triggering Lockdown Spins with the option to unlock 3, 4 or 5 bonus symbols for 100, 400 or 2000 times the bet.
A Smash Hit?
A slot game that isn´t only outrageous because of its controversial theme, but also recognizing its enormous win potential. Hit the max win and you´ll land yourself nothing less than 150,000x the bet. San Quentin xWays is undoubtably one of the most volatile and high-stake slot game the studio has ever built.
Nolimit City’s Product Owner Per Lindheimer said: “We always try to push the limits and find new ways of building new mechanics and portrait our slots – San Quentin xWays is no exception to this. You might see similarities with the smash hit Punk Rocker – gritty, mean and explosive. Welcome to San Quentin – make sure to choose your friends with care.”
We have actually given the game a try and you can watch the full 30 minute test flight below!

The game certainly is interesting, thanks for the video, it gives a better point of view than just playing a demo to test the game.

San Quentin takes you to the place most other slots wouldn’t dare. It’s certainly a distinctive theme, but we’ve seen similar themes before, as Alcatraz as a center of interest for games more than once.

San Quentin xWays is an interesting game. The game's mechanics add variety to the gaming experience. I like the split wild component they are using this is the first time I have seen it. The biggest problem I have with this is that appears to have a low payout. I have not gotten a very big payout. 3.2/5.0.

I have to say this is quite unique game, I am surprised there isn't more slots with prison theme. The game for sure is full of potential, the only thing I am worried about is the high bonus buys cost. I will give it a try but I can already tell by playing it in demo mode that it's a super volatile game.
