The New York State Gaming Commission has just teamed up with the National Council on Problem Gambling, New York public health bodies, advocacy groups and gambling companies to raise the awareness of problem gambling.
The month of March will be an excellent opportunity for customers to follow the program.
What Was Annoucned
Commenting on the upocoming activity, National Council Executive Director Keith Whyte said:
“The theme for Problem Gambling Awareness Month 2020 is ‘Awareness + Action.’ This month is all about taking action and having conversations about problem gambling issues and directing people to the help they may need.”
On the same occassion, Commission Executive Director Robert Williams mentioned:
“The ‘Awareness + Action’ theme summarizes our plans for Problem Gambling Awareness Month very well. We’re partnering with our licensed operators across the state to educate the gaming public on the various policies and procedures we’ve enacted to both safeguard our players and enhance the integrity and entertainment value of their favorite games.”
More About Commission’s Activity
New York Gambling Commission has just received certification from reputbale World Lottery Association. The Authority has been recognized as leading body which applies responsible gaming policies into daily activity. The state Commission is the single North American body which has successfuly obtained the status.
Williams added:
“Nowhere is our commitment to responsible gaming more evident than in our efforts to prevent New York’s underage players from becoming tomorrow’s disordered gamblers.”
During the month of March, the commission will use opinions from discussions with its partners and Responsible Play Partnership fellows to create efficient program for raising the awareness among players.
As part of the strategy, the Commission will develop a progressive system for age verification which will significantly raise the players consciousness. All these steps will modify customers behavior and Commission will additionally utilize Lottery age restriction practices among licensed operators and Lottery customers.

That’s which should be being heard over the news at night instead of some of the stupid stuff they talk about. It’s good to see the state caring about their people not just trying to punish the wrongdoings but to actually help. Keep it up

Well-done for the state Commission! I think that the number of problems gamblers is increasing on a regular basis and users should be aware of potential issues. The latest project will be an excellent chance to inform players about possible problems and prevent them from overspending...
