Back New Operators on Swedish Gambling Market

Swedish regulator granted three new licenses to gaming providers. As part of government institutions, the Spelinspektionen agency, which recently introduced a self-exclusion tool, works very hard to introduce brand-new betting operators to the market. The awarded companies are Premiergaming, FT Diva Casino and Bell platform.

Premiergaming has acquired a license to provide live gambling services in the local market. The Malta-based company holds authorization for multiple betting sites including: Prontocasino.com, Prontocasino.se, Premierlivecasino.com, Premierlivecasino.se, Prontobingo.com, Prontobingo.se, Prontoodds.com and Prontoodds.se.

At the same time, Bell casino and FT Diva secured licenses as well. FT Diva will cover land-based casino adventures in the entire country. On the other side, Bell will ensure betting services on ships. With this step, Sweden expanded the regulated gaming market to 69 licensed operators. As a reminder, the country opened the market for gambling providers on January 1, 2019.

More Operators Receive Green Light

Only recently, several new operators received betting permission. It includes Dreambox Games, Ellmount Gaming, More Tech Group, Pixel Digital and Legolas Invest. Other reputable sites which operate in Sweden are Betsson Group, Bet365, LeoVegas and GVC Holdings, which just launched its Changing for the Bettor Campaign.

Defying an Opposing View

These new providers entered the local market despite the latest news that Swedes have a negative opinion of gambling, with only 25% having a positive view. One month after opening the market, the majority of Swedes (77%) are still uninformed of betting regulations.

The local government strives to provide national approval. Only in the last month, the Swedish regulator published a public warning to all regulated operators to ensure full compliance of their obligations. If they fail to adhere to the official warning, it can result in penalties like fines and loss of license.

The warning appeared as a reaction to severe accusations of the Spelinspektionen body. Some operators didn’t prohibit customers who registered for self-exclusion, which raised some concerns on unchecked gambling addiction. The national agency warned operators on possible measures in the future. Several weeks after gambling regulation, nearly 10,000 local citizens chose to self-exclude from the betting activity.

It is positive to hear that the country approves brand-new operators on the betting ground. Three new providers received licenses after serious speculations on Spelinspektionen activity. The local authority seems to be confident in proceeding with issuing gambling permissions. Overall, it is always positive to have a regulated and liberalized gaming market.
