The National Basketball Association (NBA) has added another gaming partner in the expanding U.S. sports betting market.
On Tuesday, the League and The Stars Group Inc. have announced a new multiyear partnership, that will make the Toronto-based company an authorized iGaming operator of the Basketball Association in the U.S.
The Stars Group Inc. is currently best-known as the corporation that runs the BetStars online sportsbook in New Jersey, as well as PokerStars…
…and is currently going through the process of acquiring a license in Pennsylvania.
The Stars Group’s First Professional Sports Deal
“This dynamic partnership will be another way to create authentic fan engagement with league logos, and official league betting data, while leveraging Stars’ global expertise to further optimize the fan experience,” says Scott Kaufman-Ross, head of Fantasy & Gaming.
Over the past year, the company expanded its global business with the purchase of UK-based Sky Betting & Gaming, as well as Australia-based, BetEasy.
This agreement enables the operator to use official NBA data and league marks, providing a better experience to its customers, while working with the organization to protect the integrity of games.
During the partnership, brand will be promoted across the League’s digital assets.

The league will be promoted across The Stars Group’s platforms, including PokerStars, which operates the world’s most popular online poker sites.
The new affiliates will also collaborate on:
- Responsible Gaming and
- Best-in-class practices to protect the integrity of league games
NBA Extends Partnerships
This summer, the league announced MGM Resorts as the official partner of the National Basketball Association and The Women’s National Basketball Association too.
The basketball’s official logo now hangs at Borgata, an MGM property in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The League’s Commissioner, Adam Silver, while signing this historical agreement, stated that the sports wagering industry in the U.S. is evolving at a fast pace…
…so, forming a partnership with a global leader in the online and mobile gaming (including entertainment industries), will definitely result in the best possible sport experience.
The Stars Group is currently operating in New Jersey with its BetStars brand, although it plans to expand the business nationwide as additional states legalize online sports betting.
Other platforms have millions of registered customers globally and collectively hold a leading role in online and mobile verticals including poker, casino, and other related offerings.
U.S. States and Legalized Online Bookmakers
Since the Supreme Court ruling in May, legal sportsbooks have opened in Delaware, Mississippi, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and West Virginia.
