Microgaming to Create Third Lara Croft Game

Microgaming and Lara Croft brand have a long and successful history together...

...It has been exactly 15 years since the fruitful partnership between the Isle of Man-based casino software developer and Square Enix.

With the news of renewal of the agreement between the two brands (the longest-running brand partnership in the entire industry) comes the exciting announcement that a third installment of the Lara Croft online slot game is in the works!

The two previous titles – 2004's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider that marked the launch of iGaming's first licensed branded slot game in history, followed by 2008's Tomb Raider: Secret of the Sword – will hence receive their worthy successor, poised to become immensely popular just like the previous two iterations.

On a Trail of Ancient Secrets

The as of yet untitled game, it will feature the adventure-seeking heroine...

...leading the player as she unearths stories of old and archaeological treasures, encountering all sorts of obstacles on her way. Triple Edge Studios, Microgaming's exclusive provider of high-quality content and an independent studio in their own right, will be the team working on the development of this game.

The game's official reveal is planned for the most exclusive gaming event of the year, ICE Totally Gaming 2019, due in February in London. Fans can expect a completely new set of Lara Croft quests, symbols and an overhauled look of the game that was last released more than ten years ago.

Microgaming's Chief Operating Officer, Andrew Clucas, said:

“We are incredibly excited to announce the renewal of our historic partnership with Square Enix to develop a new Lara Croft online slot game that honours and builds on the brand’s massive popularity in the gaming industry, film and beyond. 2019 is our 15th anniversary with the brand and we plan to celebrate the unprecedented milestone with a wave of big reveals on another show-stopping stand at ICE.”

All Set For a Big Reveal

Square Enix West's Vice President of Licensing, Janet Swallow, said the company is looking forward to continue working with Microgaming on a development on another branded online slot game, after the top performances of previous two titles.

“We are excited to see a new action-packed Lara Croft adventure launch to the iGaming world and look forward to the big reveal at ICE 2019,” she added.

It all began in 1996, when the first ever Tomb Raider PC game was released...

...Since then, the story of Lara Croft and her escapades has seen a multitude of sequels, sold in over 67 million units which made Ms Croft the best-selling video game heroine, as well as several movies produced with Angelina Jolie starring as the main protagonist.
