Galaxy Macau has suffered a big blow during the month of July, as it is estimated that nearly $77,000 was lost due to various gambling chip-related cons and hoaxes, with a minimum of seven recurring instances reported since July 19th. Namely, this is in relation to allegations that certain amounts of counterfeit chips are in circulation and consequent arrests have been made.
Images leaked this past Monday, showed fake chips carrying the name of Galaxy Macau Casino. Soon after, two men were arrested after being charged for using these counterfeit chips, but they countered the charges by saying they were given the chips by a baccarat dealer in Macau. Within just a few hours, they exchanged the fake chips for a total amount of 350,000 Hong Kong dollars. This was the third gambling fraud-related arrest made by the Macau authorities in the last few weeks, and each time the perpetrators have hailed from mainland China. The violations committed in previous cases included operating an illegal gambling room and charging high interest rates to gamblers.
Galaxy Macau is part of the Galaxy Entertainment Group casino operator who has reported these incidents to the police, claiming their total loss in less than two weeks was around 600,000 Hong Kong dollars, which amounts to around 77,000 USD.

This story is very interesting to me but not for typical reasons. What I gather from this article is that the Chinese are working on some collective level to exploit casino hacks. I am curious if these Chinese men are just a coincidence or if maybe there is a Chinese government conspiracy to steal from casinos....

It must be very frustrating for player to be caught with false chips, especially if it is not his fault and he was given them by dealer. They really must have some evidence on cameras where he was chaning the chips. But at the end... the restrooms cannot have cameras, but I guess you may not be able to take your chips there...

Oooo, this is very bad for casinos. The perpetrators make the fake chips and exchange it for real money... wow, very awful for casinos. So, they caught them because the fake chips can not be 100% same with the real chips (?). Or how in other ways they can catch them? On second thought, maybe the price of making secured...

On second thought, maybe the price of making secured chips might be quite expensive for casinos. too.

Casinos are well aware of all possible scams these days and take great precautions to prevent them. You are literally surrounded by live surveillance cameras operated by highly professional individuals who attempt to locate cheating and stealing by both players and employees. With casino security as complex as a police department, it's really weird how these type of scams still happen in casinos......unless some of the employees were involved too...
