Back Fake Games Alert: Play7777 Casino

Play7777 has always been one of those troublesome casinos with low-quality services, yet not bad enough to warranty a warning sign. The site has been in the LCB directory for a few years now, all the while receiving bad reviews and negative feedback from players. It was only in the beginning that players seemed to like what the site had to offer, and even though occasional disclosing comment appeared, it was immediately buried under a pile of shill posts lobbying for the brand.

Why the Warning?

It was mostly unresponsive, rude support and technically faulty software that got the brand such a bad rep. However, later on, stories from around the community made mention of FAKE GAMES and that was, of course, a claim we had to investigate further.

Upon reviewing the slots, LCB team established that, while the real-money games are pirated, all demo versions on the site are genuine. Clever move on the part of Play7777, don't you think?

Founded in 2015, the outlet is part of the WOG Network N.V., a group of websites licensed by Curacao eGaming through a Master License third-party holder. Blue Lions Casino, which has since closed, and Win2Fun (still active) belong to this group as well, neither of which has any better feedback to show for all the years they've been online.

In 2017, things took a turn for the worse when the casino started cancelling wins, which at the same time was the beginning of a general trend of perpetually pending verification procedures and complete silence across all support channels. The official rep stopped responding and their reputation went downhill from there.

Pirated Games

Software piracy is one of the worst offences a casino can perpetrate. Not only is production, distribution and hosting of unlicensed copies of original games illegal, the practise is also damaging to players themselves who get nothing but dubious RNG and malware-infected slots.

LCB has reason to believe Play7777 offers fake versions of popular video slots from several established providers: NetEnt, Playtech, Quickspin, BetSoft, Merkur Gaming, Microgaming and Ainsworth.

The way we know their platform is mostly black market supplied, is due to the fact the casino is using unfamiliar, pirated domains to launch and host the games. This should not happen with genuine software - ever! Original providers launch their games from official servers that are public knowledge.

Shady Domains

Like so many other rogue before them, the site created fake domains to launch the games. These differ depending on the provider, but most are variants of the official NetEnt server: casinomodule.com. Made to resemble the real deal, these servers admittedly look almost identical to the original, and can easily fool less experienced players. Here are some examples of the pirated domains used by this, and other predatory sites, that we have seen and documented in our rogue investigations multiple times in the past:

  • eu-static.casinomoules.co
  • casinomodules.co
  • casinomoles.co
  • pomadorro-static.casinomodul.com

However, there are tell-tale signs that can help you spot a fake: notice the 's' at the end of most of the above domains, and the fact that '.co' instead of '.com' indicates these are Colombian domains.

Proof is in the pudding:

Playtech Rocky:

NetEnt Starburst:

Ainsworth Mustang Money:

Tracing the link for this pirated domain: https://pomadorro-static.casinomodul.com, we came across a certain Italian bookmaker site in a template state, with an asortment of fake games from Playtech, Novomatic, BetSoft and others. Also, we discovered a discontinued Playtech's Marvel slot, as evidenced in the screenshot below:

Some copies of Quickspin slots launch from an unfamiliar kxcdn.com server, but the majority of the pirated software is hosted by the casino themselves - another red flag, and just as bad.

Quickspin Rapunzel's Tower:

Microgaming forgeries gave us a good, hearty laugh! Either the casino doesn't think it's strange that a platform that integrates Microgaming software has the need of some look-alike NetEnt server: casinomodules.co, or they simply don't care. Not to mention that Immortal Romance, a slot with a very peculiar and memorable score, here exhibits odd background sounds resembling crowd cheering during sports events.

Play7777 is a third rogue site busted by LCB within a span of several weeks. While it's great that we are still able to expose these crooks for what they are, the number of rogue groups is obviously increasing and that is something we should have in mind at all times. Stay safe!
