Gambling operators and players can welcome the new regulatory changes in the industry. European Gaming and Betting Association has just uncovered a new e-ID process that will solve the problems of privacy and safety of customers. This is another important milestone for the whole industry given that EGBA puts a lot of importance on players’ security.

When it comes to the law, it became official on March 5, allowing users to take advantage of authentication and identification features. This means that all members states are required to enable their citizens to use one of the electronic methods for identification. The same will be optional for businesses and customers.

Despite approval EGBA law will need a green light from the EU Council of Ministers before becoming law in summer this year. This will also mean application in all member countries with instant effect.

Secretary General at the EGBA Maarten Haijer is happy that the utilization of the latest’s e-ID in the sector will bring a more seamless and top-class online experience for customers while helping in the reduction of costs and administrative work for gambling brands.
