ECM Systems Acquisition to Bolster Playtech’s UK Bingo Market Position

Back

Gambling software development company, Playtech, has recently acquired ECM Systems, in an effort to strengthen its bingo solutions offering. The purchase was completed for £14.9m, and Playtech will receive a 90% stake in the company, which provides bingo software and hardware solutions. The resulting 10% is being currently held by chief executive, Allen Richardson, and will be subject to put and call options.

The UK provider supplies and licenses digital bingo software for assorted Electronic Bingo terminals (EBT), which contributes to its overall revenue. It also provides facilities for Cash Bingo and Main Stage Bingo, as well as linked gaming operations. Big names like Mecca Bingo and independent firms throughout the UK and Ireland, are among those it supplies software and hardware to.

According to Playtech, the recent move will catapult the company to the front of the retail UK bingo market, connecting both the retail and online operations. The acquisition will also enable it to fortify its omni-channel solutions.

Playtech chief executive, Mor Weizer, commented "ECM has a leading position within the bingo hall sector, including its extensive range of handheld devices that enable players to enjoy a digital experience within a familiar retail environment. This is a significant step in strengthening and expanding our Playtech ONE offering within the bingo sector and we look forward to working with Allen and the whole ECM team."

The recent acquisition news comes after the launch of Playtech’s latest Batman slot games. It just launched two new titles, formatted for both desktop and mobile play.
