The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) is set to embark on a new chapter as Charles Mizzi steps into the role of Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Carl Brincat.
The Board of Governors, in adherence to the Gaming Act, made this significant decision, marking a transition set to take effect from January 26, 2024.
A Seamless Transition
This move comes after the recent public call initiated on October 30, 2023, and the meticulous selection process culminated in the appointment of Mizzi.
To ensure a seamless transition, he will be working closely with Dr. Brincat during January, ensuring an easy handover of responsibilities at the helm of the Authority.
Mizzi brings with him a wealth of experience, honed during his impressive 5-year tenure as the head of the Residency Malta Agency. His leadership at the agency was pivotal in steering it towards the goal of establishing Malta as one of the most esteemed and sought-after residencies for investment jurisdictions.
Acclaimed for his professionalism as well as for his results, Mizzi's extensive background in operations management positions him as an ideal candidate to lead the MGA. The Board of Governors expresses unwavering confidence in its ability to build upon the solid foundations laid at the Authority.
Residency Malta Legacy
Mizzi's impact on the Residency Malta Agency has left an enduring legacy. His instrumental role in elevating Malta's reputation as a desirable residency for investment speaks to his strategic vision and leadership prowess. As he transitions to the MGA, expectations are high for him to bring a similar transformative touch to the gaming regulatory landscape.
Mizzi's appointment as the new CEO of the Malta Gaming Authority signals a promising era for the regulatory body. With a proven track record and dynamic leadership style, he is poised to navigate the MGA through new challenges and opportunities, further solidifying Malta's position in the global gaming industry.
Mizzi shared his excitement about being part of this team and said: "I am honored to have been given the opportunity to lead the Authority. I am keen to build on past successes and, together with the team under the guidance of the Minister responsible and the Board of Governors, to strategically steer the Authority forward so that Malta's already robust position in the field may be further strengthened, while delivering value to all stakeholders."
Minister for the Economy, EU Funds and Lands Silvio Schembri thanked Dr. Brincat for his sterling service as CEO over the past 3 years and congratulated Mizzi on his appointment: "With his vast experience in managing the operations of a number of entities and his contributions towards major projects, Charles Mizzi is undoubtedly the right candidate to continue building on what the MGA has achieved so far, and lead his excellent colleagues within the Authority towards further future success."

Charles Mizzi stepping in as the new CEO of the Malta Gaming Authority seems like a promising change. With his previous success at the Residency Malta Agency, it's hopeful he'll bring fresh perspectives and strong leadership. The gaming industry, especially in Malta, is constantly evolving, so having someone with his experience could really benefit the regulatory landscape. I'm interested to see the new directions and innovations he'll introduce to strengthen Malta's position in the global gaming market. It's an important role with big responsibilities, but it sounds like he's up for the challenge!

I don't think you'll be any better. In Europe, censorship of gambling content is increasing. The entire industry is limping and it seems that it will get even worse.
