This week, it was confirmed by THE NIKI and Chyau Fwu (Parkview) Group that a proposal for construction and operation of integrated casino resort in Sasebo, Nagasaki prefecture was submitted.
The executive vice president of THE NIKI, Etsuko Oishi, who represents the group said that the consortium has planned and designed a world-class integrated resort for the city, as they aim to attract premium tourists to this area and revitalize the local economy by becoming a leading IR in Asia.
Willing to Help
Adds Oishi:
“The NIKI Chyau Fwu (Parkview) Group is leading a consortium of which Japanese companies make up the majority but includes companies from various countries alongside local Kyushu companies. Further, it includes a large number of world-leading overseas partners, including major IR operators.”
It was not announced by the company which casino operator is part of the consortium.
THE NIKI and Chyau Fwu (Parkview) Group is made up of THE NIKI, Niki Club operator that provides hospitality services as well as Chyau Fwu, a conglomerate whose roots are in development and construction businesses and was founded in Taiwan in the 1950s.
The Final Proposal
The Group wishes to help regional revitalization in Japan by making this Kyushu/Nagasaki IR a reality. They also want to develop a super-smart community in Omura Bay that makes use of cutting-edge technology.
Two more groups qualified for Nagasaki’s second screening – Casino Austria and Oshidori Consortium.
All three candidates will hold a presentation in August while the final screening results will be announced in that same month.
Nagasaki prefecture has said that the second screening will be the operators’ final proposal.
A Delay
Japan’s Integrated Casino resort plans have been given a green light and go-ahead despite the pandemic, although that has slowed it significantly.
During the first wave of the pandemic, Las Vegas Sands has decided to bail out of a $10 billion project
The brand came to the conclusion that the regulatory framework for securing one of the licenses was not viable.
