I hope they don't disappear all together .

I think that video poker is popular amongst the online players but when I've had play on some casinos, I was disappointed from the selection of the games and some missing features maybe I just didn't find the right casino yet. I'm surprised to read that in Vegas some of the best video poker missing but I guess the explanation...

You nailed it, they are being removed because you spend less money to win more money. I used to live within 45 minutes of both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. I played video poker all the time. You nailed it, they are being removed because you spend less money to win more money. I used to live within 45 minutes of both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. I played video poker all the time. I would hit a royal at least once or twice every few months. Those video poker machines were always ringing and ringing, indicating another big winner. So naturally, they are going to remove the machines that pay out the most, it is the way of land based casinos. I remember at Foxwoods, before MGM moved in, they had these five dollar slot machines just inside the old valet entrance. I believe I can fairly accurately state that I would win way more than I lost playing those five dollar machines. I wasn't alone in that either. There were not many machines there, perhaps a row of ten. Naturally they were placed within hearing distance of the black jack tables, so that those playing black jack would be distracted by the noise, and also so that the black jack players would be enticed to plunk their money into the one armed bandits. Needless to say, those five dollar machines did not last long. As with any slot machines that end up paying out more than they were taking in, soon they became a thing of the past. The story remains the same with the video poker machines. Every gambler who enjoys the slot machines and has any intelligence knows that the video poker machines are the one place they can safely count on winning enough to make playing them worth the time and effort. The other slot machines pay out far less often than the video poker machines, soak up your money a whole lot faster than the poker machines, and pay out a whole lot less. So naturally, those other slots are the machines that management wants to promote. The house will always keep their edge. It does not matter how many complaints they get from the clientele either,that just lets management know they are making the right move. Now that I think about it, even in the online casinos that I play at, my record of wins is higher on the video poker machines than it is on the other slots. While it is true that the prizes on the other slot machines are much higher than anything you can win on video poker, the chances of actually hitting one of those prizes is way lower than the the amount that one can win on video poker. Video poker machines may pay less, but one's chances of winning on them are far more steady than the bigger prizes offered on the other slots.

And at my land based casino, when they have 3x points, video poker doesn't count. Only slots do. When I get free play at the casino I always use it on video poker as the chances of getting more money back from the free play is greater.
