US states Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey hope that changes implemented to credit card systems on Friday will boost online gambling profits.
Difficulties with credit card processing for online gambling related transactions has affected the gambling industry in the US. Credit card issuers have been reluctant to approve online gambling transactions since the implementation of the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act.
MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover are rolling out new Merchant Category Codes for legal online gambling transactions. This will identify transactions for purposes of online gambling.
It will be up to the individual banks that issue credit cards to implement the new MCC’s, which will in turn eliminate the problem of rejected deposits with online casinos in legalized states.
The new MCC’s are as follows: state-operated online lotteries (7800); state-run online casino games (7801) and state-managed online dog/horse racing (7802).

This is all good news but I don't think that IL will ever be one of those state that will allow on line gambling. This state is so crooked and wants it's hand in everything so they would be the very last to reverse the ban. It is hard enough to get a land based casino here and they are jacking them already, (the few that...

The new codes are finally here! I had heard that players in Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey were having a lot of trouble using plastic for gambling deposits, especially at online sites, mostly due to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. Now that gambling online is legal in these states, players using credit cards will see these codes that will sort of override it and make the transaction legal and accessible. At least I think that is how it works. These codes are not going to help players that live anywhere else, but it is the beginning of legal online internet gambling in the USA. It's really a big deal................

Its good news for US players and baby steps to getting back the way it used to be , years ago there were hardly or no restrictions , little by little certain states are reinstating ways for people in US to online gamble again . I think they should reinstate the same rules they had in past many other countries allow and they should follow suit . If people cant control their gambling habits they should seek help , help services are out there and offered.

Sounds like these new implementations to the credit card system will have a great effect for the online gambling business in these three states. All the major credit card companies are involved so that probably will make much easier for the players to gamble online and to loose their money, unfortunately.
