A Texas grand jury in Austin indicted Governor Rick Perry, who is opposed to legalized online gambling, based on his threat to veto funding for state prosecutors investigating public corruption.
The state has appointed a special prosecutor, Michael McCrum, to handle investigation of the case.
The action group Texans for Public Justice has filed an ethics complaint against the governor and the spokesman for the group, Craig McDonald, said, "We're pleased that the grand jury determined that the governor's bullying crossed the line into illegal behavior. The complaint had merit; serious laws were potentially broken."
Perry could face jail time should he be found guilty of abusing his power resulting in one less individual fighting against online gambling legalization.

However we have to take them out. One less mouth to hear from. It would be faster if these guys against online gambling would just get into one big dirty deal that is easy to spot. We could eliminate the opposition in a timely manner. Why can't everyone see that it is going to happen. The first black US president, happened....

We could eliminate the opposition in a timely manner. Why can't everyone see that it is going to happen. The first black US president, happened. Marijuana legalized. Gay marriage legal. You know what's next. Sad waste of time........

If this guy is found to have broken the law I hope he is hit with the harshest penalty possible - it is completely unacceptable for people in positions of such authority to abuse their power in this way. If this guy is found to have broken the law I hope he is hit with the harshest penalty possible - it is completely unacceptable for people in positions of such authority to abuse their power in this way. And don't even get me started on how much I disagree with his stance on online gambling... the entire American issue surrounding this activity is almost beyond my comprehension, its the nanny state at its most ludicrous level and barring millions of people from partaking in a mostly harmless recreational activity on the grounds that a handful could suffer opens the floodgates for the prohibition of hundreds of similar activities if the public at large do not take action NOW.

Here is a great example of the hypocrisy that is alive and thriving here in the good ole’ U.S. of A. The arrogance of elected officials never ceases to amaze me. Moreover, boy-o-boy talk about bullying, this jerk will probably hold the number one spot for a while. My guess that the governor opposes online gaming and resorted to bulling because his is not getting his piece of the proverbial pie (online gaming money). I am of course very cynical when it comes to politicians and their motives for what issue they support or oppose. Texas has lots of folks with very deep pockets who contribute to their go to government officials. The Texas grand jury may have indited this jerk but I seriously doubt he will do any jail or prison time. Things of this nature will not have the same judicial outcome because of his position (governor.) Sad but true! I say, “lock the bully up and throw away the key” and let this be an example for those deep pocketed folks who support these types. Along with a message to any other bullying government officials who think this type of power play will work for them. Too bad the old clique’, “No One Is Above The Law” were the truth and applied to every citizen. We might then see a slight change in politics across the U.S. and justice would truly be equal for all. I am not going to hold my breath on this one!
