Back Anti-Online Gambling Governor in Hot Water

A Texas grand jury in Austin indicted Governor Rick Perry, who is opposed to legalized online gambling, based on his threat to veto funding for state prosecutors investigating public corruption.

The state has appointed a special prosecutor, Michael McCrum, to handle investigation of the case.

The action group Texans for Public Justice has filed an ethics complaint against the governor and the spokesman for the group, Craig McDonald, said, "We're pleased that the grand jury determined that the governor's bullying crossed the line into illegal behavior. The complaint had merit; serious laws were potentially broken."

Perry could face jail time should he be found guilty of abusing his power resulting in one less individual fighting against online gambling legalization.
