Back Scientific Games to Purchase Bally Technologies in $5.1 Billion Deal

The announcement was released on Friday regarding a deal for Scientific Games Corporation to purchase Bally Technologies, Inc. for $5.1 billion.

This news is the second big sale in under a month’s time with the purchase of International Game Technology (IGT) by Italian lottery company GTECH Holdings in July for $6.4 billion.

The deal also supports Scientific Games’ plans to focus on the slots aspect of the business. In 2013 Scientific Games purchased WMS Industries for $1.5 billion.

“In our view, this deal could mark the culmination of substantially all the mega-deals in the space,” Credit Suisse gaming analyst Joel Simkins said. “While there are still a handful of relevant domestic-international players, they may have to start thinking about future options.”
