Seems even Ben Affleck can’t get away with counting cards at the Blackjack table. The actor was in Las Vegas for a getaway with his wife Jennifer Garner before starting the filming of his latest role in Batman.
Affleck pulled up a chair at the Blackjack table and was on a winning streak at the Hard Rock Las Vegas Casino. The eye in the sky was watching him for than his stardom status that’s for sure when a security guard came up to him and said: “You are too good” in last Monday’s High Roller room.
Security was however polite and as the immediately ordered a car to pick him and his wife up and bring them back to their hotel.
The superstar isn’t entirely banned from coming back, he just got a slap on the wrist and is allowed to try his luck at another game.
He didn’t commit any type of crime because technically counting cards in not considered illegal but for Casinos, it’s a big no-no and strictly not allowed.
Back in 2001 Affleck won a whopping $800,000 at the Hard Rock Casino Vegas Blackjack table but according to witnesses he was extremely generous tipping dealers and servers to a tune of $150,000.
I wonder what would happen to the more common folk like you and I if caught counting cards at a Sin City Casino. Reckon we would get a car to pick us up and deliver us personally to our hotel and be allowed to return and try our luck at another game of chance?
If I was a betting typing of person and who isn’t, I would place the odds of getting the same type of treatment at 99 – 1 odds.

It is not illegal that is for sure. It is the casinos that make up their own rules. That in my opinion should be regulated. It's just not card readers they can kick out is anyone on a good roll and winning big bucks.

In my opinion this is not illegal and can be done easily by each and one of us, too bad some of the casinos don't share the same opinion, what they do share is maximum profits with low pay-outs.Npt correct that they have banned him playing the game.

It's more like pushed and handled like a piece of garbage. Not to mention they probably take your winnings and you are never allowed back in again. And this kind of treatment would be no prob even if counting cards is not illegal.

HAHA, Go BEN! I used to live next to a Gambler, That was his actual Job! he was hardly ever at home, nice two story house etc.. He invited me over one night and explained in a basic sense that card counting goes something like this.. (he did say they go further into it ) but for basic understanding. At the start of a NEW Game, Right After the cards are shuffled, You start counting High cards (Say 8 to ACE as High Cards with a Value of "+1" (PLUS ONE) and Low Cards (Say 2 Through to 6 or 7 as Low Cards with a Value of "-1" (MINUS ONE). There are more specific categories, but for illustration, assume it as above for now :). For each card that gets dealt. So say there are a lot of small cards passing by, and a largely negative number is present and X amount of cards into the pack should give you the balance of how many low cards and high cards are left in the pack, . so you either BET more or Bet less according to that Negative/positive number, based on the Potential you have to Win, and the dealer to possibly lose. He did mention two or three people are more ideal as one comes in , plays low and consistent, has a sign stretch or what ever, and another goes in when the table if high and WINS Large! :)

I wish whoever wrote this article would learn how to properly word a sentence. How embarrassing-almost as bad as getting caught for counting cards.

Counting cards absolutely does exist, simple (for math-minded) algorithm is used. Is it fool-proof? Absolutely freaking not, but it will give you an advantage. I think that this just goes to show Vegas doesn't want you to win. Stupid that they have restricted him from playing this game.

Look at Bens face when he gets caught lol priceless. Money talks everyone else is told to shut up (imo). Same as with online casinos. If you deposit alot and are VIP most casinos treat you to better promos.

I bet the security staff wouldn't be so polite if it wasn't Ben Affleck or any other superstar. For any of us "regular" people would be ban for life or worse.

indeed it's simple math tho, it all depends on how many decks + other players + few more things :) any1 can do it, but I was more likely bullshitting this news flash that counting cards doesn't exist at the angle of view that I just tried to prove there way. Hope I made sense. :D
