Based on the rulings against online casinos, the Advertising Standards Authority recognizes that marketers need more information regarding appropriate advertising.
The ASA plans to put on a seminar to discuss online gambling advertising with its Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) and Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice (BCAP).
The event is scheduled for March 26th at the ASA offices at Mid City Place, 71 High Holborn, London WC1V 6QT at a cost of GBP 150 for online registrations.
Topics up for discussion include:
• Understanding ad regulation - how the ASA and CAP work
• Ensuring a socially responsible approach to marketing
• Protecting children and young persons
• Preventing irresponsible appeals (e.g. to sexual success or gambling as a rite of passage)
• How to avoid encouraging problem gambling behaviours (e.g. solitary gambling or gambling to solve personal problems)
• Misleading advertising issues related to “free bet” offers
• Case studies and examples of ASA adjudications

While children may be at school, some may be off sick that day and I think the bingo adverts are still on tv during the day even on school half terms. During late afternoon/evening's there are so many bingo adverts (tombola and jackpot joy to name a few). These are not only highly misleading with the "Deposit £10, get £30 to play with" slogans (That don't mention about WR) but the fact that celebrities are featured on them highly appeals to children. They also glamorise gambling by showing it as just innocent fun where people can easily win big and don't mention the reality that you mostly lose and it can become addictive. Whenever there is a football game on tv there are also always gambling adverts. During the ad break of a football game there are usually at least 3 or 4 gambling adverts (usually labrokes, stan james, bet365 and william hill). It is way too many
