The news that Glu Mobile is to use the Skillz platform has pushed the company into the US limelight, with a share price climbing over 7 percent, and according to company CEO Niccolo de Masi, Glu Mobile income is mostly generated through tournament entry fees, advertisements, and the sale of virtual goods that enhance play.
Skillz platform is currently only available for games running on Google Inc's Android operating system,and Glu Mobile will be using it to introduce cash tournaments in its hunting simulation "Deer Hunter Reloaded".
As de Masi confirmed there are plans to expand to other Android titles in the second half of 2013, commenting that smartphones and tablets are making possible the delivery of a variety of gaming entertainment to a broader demographic thus creating boom conditions in the mobile gaming sector.
The company, with its 40 million monthly active users, most of them in the United States, has additionally partnered with Activision Blizzard Inc to make mobile games for the globally famous "Call of Duty" shooter franchise.
