Back No To Online Gambling In Saskatchewan

The minister Donna Harpauer, responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, has firmly refused the idea that the White Bear First Nation in Saskatchewan is to launch an online casino, confirming the provincial government is not planning to join Quebec, British Columbia and Ontario in entering the online gambling sector.

Harpauer underlined that if anyone were to open an online casino in Saskatchewan, it would be illegal.

She has also revealed the provincial government's prior idea of opening its own online casino, either on its own or in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority which was rejected because the risks were greater than the benefits.

It was obvious to the government that there is no compelling business case for introducing a new form of gambling, and in favor of its decision to abandon online gambling plans speaks an informal poll which reported that only 18.65 percent voted for the the tribal online casino, whilst 13 percent suggested that the government should run its own online operation; surprisingly enough, 59.25 percent of voters would shut down the First Nation online casino if it launched.
