Back Arizona Attracts Cyber-Cafe Gambling Operators

Although there is a fierce opposition to most things related to gambling in Arizona, the pastime still appears to attract cyber-cafe gambling operators with an appetite for risk.

This week a police in Glendale burst into the Jackpot Cafe, confiscating 40 computers, arresting two patrons and seizing a cash stash of around $940,000. The premises were then shut down and the prosecutions prepared as well.

The Arizona Department of Gaming assisted police in obtaining search warrants for the raid which was the latest in a series of moves against cyber-gambling cafes in several US states.

A police spokesman warned that gambling is legal on Arizona’s American Indian reservations and for strictly limited charitable events, but not in private for-profit enterprises.
