Time frame and possible legal consequences still unclear
While preparing to rejoin the 16 State German Treaty on Gambling, the new Government of Schleswig-Holstein is intent on repealing its more liberal gambling law. The sudden change of approach to online gambling legalisation must be ascribed to the change of the State Government.
Schleswig-Holstein prime minister Torsten Albig said it was the intention to take the State back into the Treaty which would entail the repeal of the formerly-liberal legislation, though without explaining how long this process would take or what might be the litigation consequences to companies already licenced by the State.
The Parliament discussion on the issue is scheduled for August 1, 2012.
