Moscow's draconian drive against gambling subject of politicians’ reconsideration
Rumor has it that Russian gamblers and operators may see their situation improving in the country.
Namely, reports arrived this week that the restrictive and utterly anti-gambling laws in Russia are to be reviewed as Vladimir Putin’s ban of all gambling in major Russian cities and the pastime’s consigning to four remote regions of the vast country did nothing but encourage a rise in illegal activity and official corruption.
It appears that this is the subject of an active discussion among politicians behind closed doors in the Duma and that if they adopt some changes, these may include permitting only regulated land gambling in the bigger cities.
Therefore, speculations arose that the four new gambling zones could service St. Petersburg, Sochi, Krasnodar and Moscow.
So far no official comment has been made by any Russian official bodies.
Update: Russia May Move towards Relaxation of its Restrictive Gambling Policies?
