Gambling law is a state prerogative, insists Governor Herbert
Utah state governor Gary Herbert, who has already outlawed any possibility of legalised online gambling in his home state, wrote to Congressional leaders urging them to stop federal initiatives aimed at legalising the pastime.
In a letter addressed to Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and Republican House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio, Governor Herbert insists on the fact that gaming laws should be decided by individual states and not the federal government.
Interestingly enough, Utah and Hawaii are the only US states that outlaw all types of gambling, lottery and pari-mutuel betting as well.
