Sliding numbers cause concern

The November 2010 results for Atlantic City land casinos have shown further 12.5 percent decline compared to the same period last year, proving that the need for additional revenues flowing from legalized intrastate online gambling in New Jersey is great.

According to regulatory officials, Atlantic City's 11 land casinos won $261.7 million in November, with slot winnings dropping by 11.9 percent to $182.2 million, and table games decreasing by 14 percent to $79.5 million.

The biggest down was noted in Resorts Atlantic City, 28.6 percent over the year, vindicating the decision by lenders this week to sell the enterprise off. On the other side, the best performance was in the Tropicana Casino and Resort, with an 11.2 percent gain.

The year to date ending on Nov. 30 in Atlantic City casinos showed a 9.3 percent drop from the same period last year, with $3.3 billion.
