Federal approval could speed up Nevada’s steps toward legalization
The recent developments in regards to the legalization of online gambling in the US, especially the news of the Reid bill, have incited speculations about which states and how fast could they start applying the relaxed regulation of gambling.
A majority of speculations refer to the State of Nevada and its gambling-oriented regulatory regime, where highly experienced state gambling regulatory bodies clearly have had the possibilities under review for some time. The connoisseurs of Nevada’s gambling history underline that the state passed a statute that permitted online gambling under strictly controlled conditions overseen by the Nevada Gaming Commission, as far back as 2001.
However, despite the fact that the industry is rather hopeful about the adoption of the bill, there’s still a prevailing concern that it might be contrary to the less relaxed position of federal US law, which implies that if it gets passed, Nevada would be in pole position to advance into the sector, assuming that there was still an appetite among state legislators for such involvement.
It is also assumed that that the requirement of the state to introduce measures against underage and problem gambling and the exclusion of gamblers from states where gambling may remain illegal are met.
There has been no official stand expressed by the Nevada Gaming Commission in regards to the Reid proposal.
