Theme and Symbols

The game boasts an Ancient Greek-themed design and, as you load it, you will face a heavenly realm above the clouds open up, getting you closer to the mighty gods – Zeus, Hera and Hermes. 

The reels are completely lined in gold, looking a lot like some kind of temple columns.

On them, you will find playing card symbols from A to 10, and other more theme-related icons, such as a green wreath, Hermes' sandals, eagles, Pegasus, and the God trio!

Zeus’ thunderbolt is a Bonus symbol, while the Scatter is represented by a Parthenon.

The reel-spinning action is perfectly followed by a powerful soundtrack.

Betting Options and Other Functions

Before you face the mighty gods, you need to set your bets that range from 0.10 and go up to 100 coins, which makes this medium-volatile arcade game perfect for all types of punters!

The action takes place across 5 reels, 3 rows while offering 20 fixed pay lines and an RTP percentage of 95.42%.

To get a win, you will need to land at least three symbols from left to right only, for which you will earn the following prizes:

Up to 2.5x the stake for a single five of a kind card royals, while the high-rewarding symbols will get you from 3x to 12x the bet.

Wild symbol substitutes for all regular pay symbols, while also rewarding 12x your bet for five of them on the grid.

Special Features

One of the first things you will probably notice upon loading the game is the little blue lightning bolts on top of the reels.

Whenever a thunderbolt symbol lands on the grid, it will be added to the collector of the reel where it landed. 

As expected, you will need to have a completely filled collector, which is different for each reel, so, you will need only one symbol for the reels 1 and 5, two for the reels 2 and 4, and three for the reel 3.

Once you fill them, you will trigger the Wild Reel feature, when certain reels turn into expanding wilds that will remain sticky for as many spins as the number of lightning icons you need to collect to trigger them.

Now, land the Scatter symbol on reels one, three and five, and you will trigger the Free Spins feature and get awarded 15 extra spins!

During the feature, the Thunderbolt meters are reduced to one for all reels, which means that every bonus symbol that lands on the reels will trigger the expanded wild.

However, it will stay sticky for one spin!

Verdict

Zeus: Thunder Reels is a decent game from Playson, though, it does not feature anything new and innovative.

One downside may be the low maximum potential and a slightly below-average RTP.

However, it's all about the Wild Reels feature which is not so represented in other games, and it has a lot to offer, plus the Free Spins rounds with 15 extra spins are enough to keep you interested!
