Wu Xing

Oriental themes have been becoming popular as of late. Wu Xing is a Blueprint Gaming slot that draws inspiration from astronomy or signs of it. I am not entirely sure how these signs work, but at least here they work as inspiration for connecting them into winning combinations. The quality of the game seems to be somewhat normal, though age will eat away sooner or later.

Theme

The background pictures, as well as the welcome screen, have received more attention than the reels and symbols themselves. Not that quality is bad there either, but it’s not quite something that would keep the game eternal like the stars and planets it tries to imitate.

The symbols in this Blueprint Gaming release are a combination of playing card ranks and different astrological icons, or at least we assume so. The theme could have used a bit of an explanation for western players.

Betting Options and Functions

Five signs come with five reels, with three symbol positions each. The interface is quite modern and works both in mobile and desktop devices. Changing the bet, which ranges between 0.50 and 500 coins, is easy as is spinning the reels or reading the instructions.

There’s a total of 40 pay- lines in the game. The variance seems to be quite high, even though the wins are not. There are ten basic symbols, with wins from these ranging between 0.20 and 10 times the bet.

The wild is the most valuable symbol as it offers wins up to twenty times the line bet. As you can probably guess, this kind of prizes means that the special features are the ones paying the real wins.

Features

The bonus games are triggered by scatter symbols, and you will always receive five of them despite how many scatters are on the reels. The bonus games start with super spin. During this spin only scatters are available. The number of scatters that land will determine the value of them for the remaining spins, during which each scatter will pay out the value determined beforehand. If you have played Blueprint Gaming slots before you are probably familiar with this feature.

Extra bonus games and super spins are available via special symbols. However…

…the far more interesting feature is the progressive jackpot. The feature is naturally completely random and comes into play when enough crown symbols are on the reels. There are a few more steps to be taken before you can claim the jackpot for yours, but if you manage to do so you are in for a big win.

Our Take

Wu Xing is a slot of the usual quality. There is really nothing extraordinary or special here. The win that you should seek out is the jackpot, but then there are many better games for that. If you are a sucker for Chinese themes, or just want to try them out, then this slot is a good place to start. We suggest doing so in demo mode first.
