The world knows the RMS Titanic was a glorious ship that suffered a tragic fate taking hundreds of souls onboard down with it on April 15, 1912 and it was this event in history that sparked the idea for the 1997 blockbuster hit based on the fictional love story of Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose (Kate Winslet). Many saw the film multiple times during its run in cinemas and movie goers obviously knew a good thing when we saw one because Titanic went on to win eleven Oscars. Audiences were as intrigued with Jack and Rose as they were with Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On”. The onscreen romance ensures that Rose will never let go and all hearts can now go on through Bally’s launch of the Titanic Slot in March 2014.
Titanic Slot Theme
The game is based on the film with characters such as Jack, Rose, Cal and Rose’s mother Ruth appearing on the reels. The large screen above the gaming machine in brick and mortar casinos displays actual movie clips and is used for the bonus feature. The design has an antique feel and includes authentic audio from the film.
Features
When three Titanic ships appear on the reels, the U-Spin™ Wheel Bonus Feature is awarded. The player experiences a 3D visual of moving through the ship to the captain’s wheel, which features credits plus special bonuses including:
- The Safe – Players pick one safe to reveal a credit amount and move to Rose’s sitting room to select an item for a multiplier.
- Make it Count – Jack will meet you at the top of the stairs and take you to a free spins party in the bottom deck. When clocks appear on the reels during the feature they will award credits, wilds and additional free games.
- Heart of the Ocean – The infamous scene where Cal presents Rose with the Heart of the Ocean, a massive blue diamond, is played out on the screen before sending the player into a free spins bonus. Players must choose their perfect combinations of free games and multipliers, which include 30 free games at 1x, 15 free games at 2x, 10 free games at 3x and 6 free games at 5x.
- Pick Up – This bonus displays 6 rows of “T” symbols. The player will select one symbol from each row, starting from the bottom, to reveal credits but you may not make it to the top if you find a multiplier.
Note: If you land on a credit amount the wheel will continue to spin until a feature is awarded.
Titanic also has random features that may occur during any spin during the base game.
Wrapping it up
Titanic has an impressive paytable and the features have the potential to pay pretty well. The least exciting are the Safe and Pick Up bonuses to cross your fingers that you don’t land on one of those. On the other hand, you can’t go wrong with a bonus wheel that guarantees a feature. Who want to finally trigger a wheel spin only to receive 150 credits? Bally did a fabulous job with the graphics and audio to deliver a fun and exciting experience to players. On a side note, there was definitely room for two don’t you think?
