Betsoft’s Sushi Bar is precisely what one would expect of a product with that kind of title to be. To begin with, anything short of stunning graphics would be undeserving of Japanese cuisine, real or imagined. In that regard, Sushi Bar doesn’t disappoint… rather the opposite. Indeed, the first impression is that the visuals and the soundtrack create just the perfect atmosphere. Too perfect, perhaps. If attempted lightheartedly, the slot may easily set you daydreaming about a sort of The Man in the High Castle virtual reality setting. Leaving imagination aside, the maximum jackpot of 10,000 coins is likely to add some zest to this already mouthwatering slot!
Theme
The title says it all: expect colorful symbols with a cavalcade of traditional dishes hailing from the Land of the Rising Sun! The reels are plastered onto a Japanese-style bar background. The helper in your big-win-quest is Chef Haru. Itamae Haru-san, that is, to stand on ceremony properly. We suspect he was modeled after the brilliant Cato (Burt Kwouk), but that just might be our wishful thinking. Regardless of whoever his character might have been inspired by, Haru-san is dead set on making you laugh. Not only does he serve perfect dishes while the reels keep spinning, but he also accompanies the process with a kiai.
Oh, and just in case anyone has somehow managed to miss the obvious, the itamae is wearing a Japanese flag bandana... Nah, just nagging a bit here so that not everything appears to be as perfect as it is.
Betting Options and Other Functions
The Sushi Bar slot features 5 reels and 25 paylines. You can bet $0.02, $0.05, $0.10, $0.25, and $0.50 per line, with the maximum coins per line standing at 10. The game has fewer symbols than the majority of other Betsoft's games, and also fewer bonus options. Regular symbols comprise the royal suit (overflowing with tiny bits of raw food, onigiri, okayu, and the unavoidable miso soup), a chopping board, a kyuusu (Japanese teapot), and a sushi plate. No signs of ramen, sukiyaki, and sashimi whatsoever, in case you were wondering… Like we’ve pointed out already- Sushi Bar has fewer symbols than conventional. It does leave us wanting for more, alas!
Features
The Sushi Bar extras are but standard. The game’s wild is the soy sauce symbol, and the scatter - an ornate sakura fan.
Extras:
- Customarily, the wild substitutes for any symbol excluding the scatter.
- Uncustomarily, the wild doubles any winning combinations it has helped form.
- Lining up 3, 4, or 5 scatters will award you 8, 12, or 20 free spins, respectively.
- Landing two additional scatters during the bonus round will double all the wins.
Our Take
Visually pleasing, entertaining, playable on desktop, tablet, and mobile phones... More than enough for us! Might be for you, too! At least give Sushi Bar a couple of spins before confusing it for a stereotypical slot.
