Since the film 300 came out people have been fascinated with Spartans and their warrior way of life. GMW has taken this theme and transformed it into a five reel video slot packed full with gripping animations and sound effects.

Spartans Theme

If you know the story, or even if you don't, you'll be treated to a number of characters and themed props from the epic battle at Thermopylae on the reels. Many of the icons are animated too and include shields, helmets, swords, Sparta Queens, Xerxes, enemy soldiers, Spartan warriors and Greek pots. Other icons take reference from Poker and include 9, 10, J, Q, K and A designs.

Overall the slot has a similar feel to Gamesys Age of Spartans which isn't a bad thing because that's a great slot too. As both slots are based upon the same story it was kind of inevitable anyway.

Betting Options and More Functions

Betting options are restricted to $7.50 per play which is relatively low in comparison to other slots. This makes the slot suitable for low to mid rollers in the stakes department although the graphics and gameplay will draw others in.

Spartans Slot Features

Gorgo, the Queen of Sparta, appears on the reels as a substitute wild. She is able to replace any regular icon which does mean Xerxes cannot be substituted for. During free spins the Sparta Queen is stacked which means it's possible for all positions to be filled on the reel.

Xerxes may be an evil warlord but on this slot brings free spins when three, four or five icons show up on screen. This will award 15, 30 or 100 free spins respectively with all wins being doubled; perhaps he is a 'merciful god' as he claimed on the film 300.
