This time around he’s helping you get the credits from the Sherriff of Nottingham. Not only is this online slots game inspired by a rather rare theme, but it’s also packed with content.

If there is an abundance of something in the Robin Hood story, it is unique locations. Even with all those choices, it didn’t take much for Arrows Gaming to figure out what to use for the background. 

There is no place more legendary than the Sherwood Forest! After all…

…that is where Robin Hood and his band of merry men live. A byproduct of this decision is a very neutral background that doesn’t draw attention. There’s no clutter to distract you from the game itself. Best of all, it fits the context so well. 

The main screen design follows a similar aesthetic. Just about everything you see in front of you features a wooden texture. The only actual exceptions are character icons. Overall…

…the theme sets the stage for what is going to be a highly refined game! Arrows Edge gets a bunch of cookie points for this alone. 

Symbols That Fit the Storyline 

Symbol design for Robin In The Woods is by far one of the best things about it! Even the most common, least significant ones are still very much relevant to the main theme. 

Lowest paying ones feature a wooden target cutout shaped like playing card suits. You have your hearts, spades, diamonds, and clubs. Not an uncommon sight in online slots games. 

Next up are the mid paying symbols which come in the form of various treasure chests and coin sacks. As you can probably guess by now, the highest paying symbols depict the main characters – Robin Hood himself and the Sheriff of Nottingham. 

If you’re wondering where the young lady is, worry not! They’ve used her as the scatter symbol. Wild symbols much less creative. It’s just a piece of wood with the wild spelled on top. 

Betting Options and Special Features 

At its core, Robin In The Woods features a standard 5 reel, 4-row game. The 40 paylines that are available, are always played. You can’t adjust the number of paylines. 

The bet amount can be set anywhere from 0.80 up to 240 credits, which is significant considering that starting balance in the demo isn’t too high! 

Special features are something else in this game. There are a few and they…

… add a lot of value to the game. 

First up is the bullseye feature that is triggered when the arrow symbols land on reels 1 and 5. When that happens, the reels slide back and a bow appears in the lower right corner. Three arrows are released at the reels and the symbols they hit turn into wilds!

Next, we have the Locked Vault feature! This one is triggered when you get two arrow symbols and one locked vault symbol on a spin. 

Similar to the previous mechanic, the reels slide back, the arrow is released and…

… it hits the lock on the vault. The lock is destroyed and the contents of the vault are revealed. 

The last feature is called Love and Arrows Free Spin. To trigger this one, you will need to get three scatter symbols. Once triggered, you are presented with two heart icons. One offers extended wilds while the other gives you sticky wilds! 

Our Take: 

This title has got to be one of the best designed and best-executed ideas we’ve seen in recent years. The amount of effort they’ve spent on this game is worthy of praise.
