Power of Gods

Platipus Gaming’s Power of Gods is another title in this designer’s long (though not exclusive) tradition of mediocre slots that vary only slightly from one-another. This slot’s Asian deity theme is only partially redeemed by solid bonus features, stacked symbols throughout, and abundant win multipliers.

Theme

This title’s visuals wouldn’t be out of place in a video game from the 1980s – a psychedelic array of colors is on display, as the five reels are framed by a gleaming naturescape of crystals, trees, and waterfalls, with a pagoda temple looking on. Higher-value symbols include a scimitar and four dieties, each with its own color background, radiating power, while the playing card values ace through ten provide lower-value symbols. A woven red and gold symbol acts as wild, while a fiery, red eye symbol acts as scatter. The sound design evokes East Asia almost aggressively, with plucked strings and gongs galore.

Betting Options and Functions

Platipus has certainly released some excellent titles, but this company also has a tendency to take a cookie-cutter approach to design, resulting in an abundance of mediocre titles resembling one-another, where little attention is paid to the finer points of gaming or design. It seems that Power of Gods falls into this latter category. There are 40 paylines, all paying from left to right only. Bet per line can be set from 0.02–10.00, for an overall per-spin bet range of 0.20–400.00 times the betting currency. Autoplay is available for up to 1000 spins at a time, though players should exercise caution before choosing this option, as there are no optional loss limits available. A menu offers players sound options, paytable information, detailed game info, and hand history. Quick spin is also on offer for players who prefer a faster game tempo. The RTP is 94.99%. 

Features

While this title has its limitations, bonus features are not among them. Furthermore, as in the case of mega stacks and win multipliers, extras are available on any spin, without any need to wait until a bonus feature is triggered. Mega stacks contain stacked symbols which are not determined until the reels begin to spin. At this point, all mega stacks transform into the same symbol, allowing for the possibility of big wins. Win multipliers are applied whenever one of the five top-value symbols covers the entirety of three or more consecutive reels (and is part of a winning combination, without the use of wild symbols) – a win multiplier of 2x, 3x, 5x, or 8x is applied to that win only.

Free spins are triggered by the appearance of the eye scatter symbol on all positions of the middle three reels. Eight free games are awarded, during which time one of the higher-value symbols (chosen at random by the player before free spins begin) will appear stacked on all reels.

Our Take

Despite its solid bonus features, Power of Gods is just about as forgettable as an online slot can be. Even devoted fans of Platipus Gaming are unlikely to linger here for long.
