Meet Mrs. Green – your resident, sweet old lady. Or is she? 

As it turns out, Mrs. Green has a dark secret. Your curiosity gets the better of you and you decide to investigate further. 

As you approach her estate, you notice that everything looks neglected. Paint is peeling off the walls and door frames. Every window you find is caked up in sticky, yellow dirt. Even so, you find a spot that’s clear enough to see through and you look inside. 

What you see inside are plants. But not just any kind of plants. There’s something wrong about the ones you see. They are disfigured…

…unnatural. To your horror, you find that the plant closest to you has a mouth! You hear a loud thud as you fade to black. 

Okay, that might have been a bit too dramatic, but it sets the mood for what this game has to offer. 

Theme That Sends Chills Down the Spine 

Spooky, creepy themes are nothing new in the world of online slots. However, it takes some skill to make a game creepy without using any of the usual crutches. 

There’s nothing overtly scary about the theme in this title. There are no monsters or masked psychos lurking around the corner. The closest thing you have to that type of horror… 

…are disfigured plants we’ve already mentioned as well as the triple high wild symbol which we’ll address later. 

Instead of taking the easy route, Saucify went on to create a creepy theme using nothing more than ambient details and character design!

As the game loads up, you’ll notice that the background of the main screen looks like an old wall. It’s in a state of decay with patches of wallpaper and mortar missing in various places.

It appears as if Mrs. Green tried to cover up those patches with drawings of different plants…

… which only adds to the overall sense of despair. 

Symbol design is every bit as clever as the theme itself! Lower paying ones feature letter-shaped, hedge plants as well as garden tools. 

The higher paying symbols are a bit more sinister than that. This where you start running into ominous plants with large mouths, sharp teeth and an appetite for all things human. 

The real kicker is the wild symbol - It’s triple high, meaning that it takes all three rows in a single reel!

It depicts Mrs. Green washing dishes with her back turned towards you. Once triggered, the wild’s animation sequence is activated. In the animation, Mrs. Green turns towards you as her smile morphs into an ominous grin. If that doesn’t give you the heebee-jeebees, her bloody clever most certainly will. 

Betting Options and Functions 

Mrs. Green’s Plant Emporium is a fairly standard slots game in terms of mechanics. There are 5 reels with 3 rows each. The user interface under the main window is quite simple! The left side of the menu tells you your current balance, how many coins you’re betting and the value of each coin. 

Speaking of which, coin value goes from 0.01 to 50 credits with 40 paylines available. 

That means that you can get up to 2000x your bet if you get five of the highest paying symbols in a spin. The potential amount you can look forward to is about 2500 credits in this particular scenario! 

Things get much better if you take into account the x2 multiplier used in the Free Spin mode. More on that later. 

As far as betting options and functions go, this title isn’t unique in any way but that might just be its best trait. 

Special Features 

Much like other games out there, this one also comes with a special feature. However, much every other mechanic we’ve seen here, the special feature is fairly average. 

It comes in the form of free spins you trigger by getting 3 or more scatter symbols. You will easily recognize these as they have the title of the game as a part of their design. 

The mini-games works as follows: 

- Win 3 scatters to activate 10 free spins 

- Win 4 scatters to activate 15 free spins 

- Win 5 scatters to activate 20 free spins 

Also, remember that a 2x multiplier applies while you are in the free spin mode. The mini-game can be triggered again if you draw additional scatter symbols! 

Our Take: 

This title proves that a game doesn’t have to be unique nor special to be good. Instead, sometimes you just need a well-made core game that looks good!
