A charming mole digs its way through the ground deep under the pastoral green land in the cartoonish video slot release with a 5x3 grid layout on 10 fixed paylines.

This video slot was developed by the iGaming software provider Yggdrasil Gaming, in partnership with another software developer Reflex Gaming.

Theme

Although colorfully very vibrant and with some subtle animations, like that of a little worm crawling under the ground, the visuals of this slot release are noticeably old-school, and it is evident that the developers took a retro approach when making this title.

Miners tools, a hard hat, a garden gnome, and sunflowers spin among four differently-colored Royals. Joining them are two special symbols that come in form of the crate full of dynamites and the mole with his acorns, but we’ll talk more about those symbols later.

The music perfectly befits this cartoonish video slot, although the joyful, almost circus-like melody can become a bit tedious at some point, as it repeats too many of the same xylophone-made notes over and over. However, the music can be turned off.

Betting Options and Functions

The betting range can be set from $0.20 up to $100.00, and the variance is medium.

However, the return-to-player may be something of a deal-breaker, as it stands at the measly 95.74%, which is below the industry's standard.

The lesser-paying symbols are the four Royals, all of which pay the same amount of x0.4, x1, and x5 of the placed bet, when 3, 4, or 5 land on the reels.

These are followed by the miner's tools, hard hat, and sunflowers, with them rewarding x1, x2, and x10, x1, x3 and x10, and x1, x4, and x15, respectively. The garden gnome pays x2, x5, and x20 of the bet, and the titular Moley Moolah symbol rewards x3, x10, and x50.

Features

Regarding the features, the crate with dynamites mentioned above is the Wild symbol that substitutes for any of the regular symbols in the game.

The mole bonus symbol can appear only on reels 1, 3, and 5, and when three such symbols land, 15 extra spins will be rewarded.

During these extra spins, another symbol becomes present in the game. The symbol in question is an acorn, which is collected during this feature, and if five such acorns are collected more extra spins will be granted.

If 20 such acorns are collected the big prize of x250 of the placed bet will come as a reward.

Lastly, the mole from the title can appear at any time during the spins triggering the Wild Reel feature, which will quake the ground and turn random symbols into the Wilds.

Our Take

Straightforward and charming, Moley Moolah may be too cartoonish for some players, but it is nevertheless a welcome addition to the many video slots made by Yggdrasil.

Also, the thought process behind the implementation of more or less basic features present on the slot machine, was a meticulous one, as each of the features compliment the other perfectly, keeping the gameplay interesting. 

Although the RTP leaves quite a bit to be desired, the title appears to be well-balanced and quite engaging.
