Red Tiger Gaming is not exactly known for experimental slots, yet this time around the reel setup is completely different from their usual offering. Masquerade still retains the usual high qualities when it comes to graphics and audio, not to mention the big wins that are available. There are not many bonus features here but the ones that are do lead to wins of up to a thousand times your total bet.

Theme

A theater stage opens up on the screen, with lamps and streets covering the background leading to it. True to the fashion of theaters the center stage, or in this case reel, is the most important one. It can have up to four symbols whereas the others have three or two. The symbols, in turn, are either card ranks, regalia, or masked people. The music and other audio effects deliver a bit bland experience, but at least they are made for the slot and not simple copies from some other game.

Betting Options and Functions

There are twenty paylines, all fixed. The playing reel setup is different from the usual one found in slots, looking somewhat like a hexagon. Luckily, the symbols connect simply by being adjacent, so they connect from all directions as long as enough are next to each other.The pay is controlled via the total stake, which runs from 0.20 all the way into 500 coins. Do notice that the upper limit is actually usually somewhere around 60 or one hundred coins depending on the casino.

The first order of wins is formed by the playing card ranks. Cards ten to ace pay between 10 and 200 times your line bet. The hat, the pocket watch, and the ring form the second cast of prizes, with wins varying from 40 to 500 times your bet. The masked lady offers the most wins, with five symbol combo dishing out a thousand times the line bet.

Features

The masques play the main role in bonus features, of which there are two. The first one is the Royal Masque, which fires randomly. The masque will cover all reels apart from the first one completely, and spin to reveal a randomly chosen symbol, which is then copied to all position. You can be sure of a guaranteed win.

The second feature is the golden masque, which can drop onto the reels like a normal symbol. When it does it spins around to choose a random symbol, which is then duplicated to all masked positions. The symbol can spread to extra reels and positions.

Our Take

Masquerade suffers from the same issues as most other Red Tiger gamings, that is the bonus games are just random features that might or not might happen. Now, it’s true that whatever the feature would be it would still be completely random. The feeling is a bit different though, as with just random features each spin you are left with a kind of a stale taste. Keep spinning or change the game? That’s something for you to decide.
