Hell on reels means a theme of rock ‘n’ roll, rebelling, naughtiness and hard wins. SYNOT Games doesn’t shy away from using whatever means they have on hand to differ from the masses, though this time they’ve come up with a rather standard Hellplay. There’s certainly no abundance of extra features here so eye candy is mostly what you’ll have to settle for.
Theme
The floor is lava, literally, with the halls of hell opening up in the background. All the characters seem to be on the reels though, with the devil, the sexy succubus, and a plethora of not-so satanic symbols coming around spin after spin. The music is of course heavily influenced by rock, with a bit of a metal vibe in there as well. The theme incorporates all that the name implies, though a few more animated sequences wouldn’t have hurt the atmosphere.
Betting Options and Functions
The five paylines run from left to right, with the aim of creating two to five symbols combinations to pay out the prizes. The betting is done via total bet selector, which ranges from 0.20 to 100 coins. The variance seems a bit high, even if the max win is 1024 times your bet.
The playing cards offer minimal wins, ranging from one to eight times your line bet. However, there is a special feature here that can multiply them up to five times the original value. The other wins are a bit lacking as well, with the medium level symbols paying out 5 to 100 times your line bet. The two top symbols, devil and the pentagram pay out 500 and 250 times the line bet for a five symbol combination.
Features
Three to five consecutive reels filled with playing card symbols offers extra multipliers for your wins. Three reels give triple multiplier, four reels quadruple, and five reels fivefold wins. Every little bit helps, though these prizes still don’t end up reaching very high.
The wild is portrayed by a semi-naked Succubus, who goes around wiggling her buttocks. The latter effect seems to have received more attention than the actual gameplay. The symbol does offer the benefit of expanding to the whole reel in case that offers any extra wins.
Any win can be gambled to double it. Choose the right color card to win, and pick the wrong one to lose the whole pot. A risk perhaps worth taking with the smaller prizes.
Our Take
Hell Mania is a well-done slot, but it doesn’t quite hit home on any front. The features are lacking, in fact, there doesn’t seem to really be any real features here. The occasional wild or multiplier is just that; an occasional bit of extra. The devil himself offers nothing expect the biggest wins you can have. To add to this, the variance seems exceedingly high for such a low-win slot. Big wins happen on occasion, but they are not massive wins when compared to some other slots out there. Play it for the music?
