Guardians of Flowers

Guardians of Flower follows a pretty standard setup from GamingSoft. What’s you'll find is good quality graphics, some animations, a bit of sound and music, the standard jackpots, a bonus game, and free spins. Though the slots from this producer don’t suffer from a lack of quality in general, they do suffer from a plague of similarities with the other slots from the same producer. Only the theme seems to change from game to game. Is this the case when we take a deeper look at the game? Find out below.

Theme

How the Mexican Day of the Dead fits in here is not quite clear, but you do have those skeleton mariachis here to spice up the reels. Other symbols are made up of the playing card values, and the four flower ladies. The latter are the main symbols in the game, that is if you don’t count the bonus ones. The music is a similar mix of influences, and it does manage to add a layer of entertainment on top of the slotplay.

Betting Options and Functions

The game is played with a setup of five reels, which come with three rows. There are thirty fixed paylines running from left to right, and the aim of the game is to get combinations of three to five symbols on those lines. Betting is done via one simple button, simply choose the total bet for each round.

The return percentage is fine here, following the norm. However, the basic line wins are quite low. The playing cards might pay back as little as a tenth of the bet, and at best a combination of five aces will land you a third of your bet on that spin. Even with five of the flower ladies on the screen, you will only win twice your total bet. In order to win big here, you really need to land the reels full of similar symbols.

Features

The scatters show up on reels 2, 3, and 4, and when all of these have one the free spins begin. Apart from a few free rounds, this feature doesn’t offer much. Luckily there are a few more specials to add to the count. Landing the Mysterious Fortune, for example, will reveal new random symbols, which might add up to big wins.

The skeleton musicians will activate when you land three bonus symbols. This, in turn, starts an interactive mini-game, where your mission is to choose the right notes to play. Each of these will reveal a coin win as well.

The jackpot feature works much the same as in other games. Simply land the right symbols, and then pick the right symbols in the minigame. Three similar symbols will grant the corresponding jackpot, of which there are four. Unfortunately, the jackpots require higher than normal bet.

Our Take

Guardians of Flower is unfortunately nothing new to anyone who has played GamingSoft titles before. There are a few downsides to the game, but it does have good qualities too. So, if you haven’t played the titles before, then you might want to roll a few reels with the demo version before you put in any real money.
