Once again a company has decided to use the Ancients as a source of inspiration for their slot. Egypt and their gods are quite a common subject, same as the Greeks or the leprechauns: done to death by most game publishers. So what does this Spin Games version of the theme bring to the table? The game comes with quite mediocre graphics, normal play methods, and some inspiring music. But is there enough reason to give it a spin?
Theme
The symbols present the host of playing card ranks that we are all used to, in the sense that they have not been modified for the game theme at all. The specialised symbols have received a bit more love and offer a view of the different gods of Ancient Egypt. The audio effects are good, at first, but soon become quite repetitive. The background is mostly non-existent, and there are no animations to speak of.
Betting Options and Functions
The playing field consists of the usual five reels with three symbol positions each. Forty paylines run through the reels, connecting from left to right. You can choose how many paylines are in use, with incremental options between one and forty. Betting is done by simply selecting how many coins you want to use per line, with a minimum total bet of one coin and a maximum of four hundred.
The game offers high volatility, which combined with the amount of payline results in expensive spins(depending on your bet) as well as quite handy payouts. The minimum you can receive from a three symbol combo is 5 times your line bet, whereas the maximum you can receive from five matching symbols is a cool thousand times the line bet. There are plenty of wins that fall in between these two extremes.
Features
At the start of each spin, one symbol is randomly selected to be stacked across all reels. This doesn’t mean that you will get stacked symbols on each spin, instead, it means that if the chosen symbol shows up it will be stacked. With enough luck, you can get all reels full of stacked symbols. That’s not quite likely to happen though.
The bonus symbol needs to show up on the first reel, with a minimum of three consecutive symbols starting the free spins. Three, four, and five symbols dish out 8, 10, or 20 free spins respectively. These can be re-triggered during the feature. The same random selection of stacked symbol applies, with all wins paid triple compared to the normal game.
Our Take
Egyptian Gods doesn’t really offer much these days that would not be offered by some other game. In fact, the similarly named Egypt Gods seems to offer everything this game has and more for those interested in the theme. If you are interested in this version of the theme definitely go for the demo mode first.
