The captain is here, ready to guide the boat into jackpot-infested waters. On top of this, there are plenty of symbols and features to take a look at. Fish for lobster, grab some free spins, or simply spin for the fun of it. Some of the graphics employ a 3D-look together with the cartoonish setup. The game is surprisingly heavy to load but spins just fine when it gets going. Usual Core Gaming quality.
Theme
Captain Cashfall is the head honcho, who has apparently gained his name from dropping cash everywhere. Who knew fishing was such a lucrative business? No open seas in sight though, just the floorboards of the ship as you spin the reels to land different surprise catches. The graphics seem a bit aged, but they drive their purpose well enough. Sound and music is surprisingly energetic and gives a nice feeling for gaming.
Betting Options and Functions
The reel setup is standard, with twenty fixed paylines running from left to right. The bet is easily selected through the total stake selector, which gives out values between 0.20 and 500 coins. The higher end can be restricted by the casino, and usually depends on the denomination.
Apart from the titular symbols, which pays out five times the line bet, all symbols pay out only 2 times the line bet for a two symbol combination. For three symbols the range is between 2 and 20 times the bet, with four symbols 10 and 200, and with five symbols between 60 and 500 times the line bet. There are plenty of extra symbols, which leaves a bit of a crowded feeling on the reels. Don’t expect to win with every spin.
Features
Bronze, silver, and gold jackpots are launched via the Lobster Pot Shot feature. This, in turn, is triggered by three Captain symbols showing up in reels one, three, and five. You get to open chests, from which different prizes pop out. Might just be a credit win, or then three identical jackpot symbols.
On the screen, you will also notice three progressive trails along the right side of the play screen. Each one of these has a color and an assigned symbol that fills the meter when part of a winning combo. These won’t reset until the feature fires. Play the long game here.
Three scatters, codename for free spins, launches the bonus rounds. Three, four, and five symbols give out 10, 20, or 30 spins. During the spins, a wild is locked in reel 2 and 4. If a wild lands on reel 3 it will expand to cover the whole reel. The other bonus games may trigger, and technically the free spins may retrigger infinity times.
The third feature is the Sea Dog’s Super Slot, which triggers via three scatters, this time the dog obviously being the symbol in use. You get to pick the amount of spins, which are of course random, and then play them out in a mini-slot with plenty of small wins.
Our Take
Captain Cashfall is a surprisingly cozy slot, though it requires quite a few spins to really grow on you. Unfortunately, in terms of technology, the game is a few too many years old, and this doesn’t cope well with the jackpots, nor with the graphics and sounds. Still, you might want to try it out anyway.
