Beekeeping is a hobby gaining ground at a fast pace, for one reason or another, so it was only a matter of time before the subject made its way into online slots. Beehive Bedlam Reactors combines the theme with several other popular innovations of late, such as tumbling reels, achievements and separate bonus meters. Core Gaming is a relatively unknown slot publisher, though this is unlikely to remain so given the good quality of their products. It’s probably worth pointing out that Beehive Bedlam started as a normal mobile game, and only later moved into the world of online slots.
Theme
Country life shines through from the background to the music, the latter being very upbeat and a welcome experience all by itself. On the forefront, you have the beehive, which functions as the platform for the actual game. Occasional bees fly through the screen, at times filling up the jackpot meter. On the right-hand side, you have the pollen count, which registers any nectar collected from different flowers. On the left side, you have the honey jar, which fills up as beekeeper symbols connect on the grid. The theme is all-encompassing and works extremely well. The symbols are all fit to the game, on the reels you’ll find the beekeeper, the queen bee, the buzzing bee, and several different flowers.
Betting Options and Functions
The stake can be set anywhere from 0.20 to 500 coins per spin. In my testing, the slot was quite stingy, and I would suggest playing with a low bet to make sure you can rake in the hundred of spins necessary to activate achievements and bonus features.
The game doesn’t use the traditional reel setup, instead what you have is a 7 x 7 hexagonal grid. There are no paylines either, instead, each symbol can connect along its hegaxon to similar symbols. Five similar symbols are needed to start the reaction, and each will burst out of the screen. New symbols fall into place creating new combinations.
Features
To start with you have the achievements. These do not actually pay out anything but do add an extra layer of entertainment in this age of gamification. Similarly, once the honey jar is filled you get to explore ten different levels each with a different theme. Once all of these levels are completed the player is awarded with several different bonuses.
The honey jar is surprisingly hard to fill, mainly because it has twenty different segments that all need to be filled before the actual bonus game launches. This is why low bet is the best way to go with this slot. Given that the beekeeper symbol doesn’t come around too often you’re probably looking at a hundred spin or more to launch the bonus feature. Or, of course, if you have luck it might happen on the first spin.
A free spin, or in this case free fall feature launches whenever you have three or more free fall symbols connected. This will award a cascade of fall, and the more symbols you connected the more free falls will activate. The feature can be re-triggered, and what is more important it is also possible to win the jackpot during this special. The progressive jackpot is awarded at random.
Our Take
Beehive Bedlam Reactors is one of the first games to successfully marry online slots with traditional mobile games. The resulting experience is unlike traditional slots, as it rewards longer playtime and offers much more entertainment and action for the player. If you’re looking for something new and different to play then this game certainly fills your criteria. Give it a go!
