Banana Jones is one of the more adventurous games from RTG. Though the game is classified as slot, and certainly the mathematics remain the same as in most games, the style of the game isn’t exactly something that would remind you of a slot. Set up as a snakes and ladders board game, this game might be worth a look if you’re looking for something else.
Theme
Banana Jones himself seems to be an adventurer of sorts, this time stuck in some jungle. There’s a whole animation about the setup that is good enough to warrant a view. The graphics are far better than what you normally get in RTG games, and so are the audio effects. There are no reels here, so it is no surprise that the rest of the features have received a lot of extra attention.
Betting Options and Functions
Right, so you don’t roll the reels. Instead, you roll the dice and advance along the game board. As you advance you collect different symbols, and the more you collect the more prizes you are going to land. The goal is to make it all the way into the temple, and as you can guess you are not going to make it there on every roll of the dice. Each bet you set gives you five rolls of the dice to make it all the way to the top. Sometimes you might also land some extra dice rolls that come for free.
The wins are from another world when compared to normal slots, but then so is the gameplay. This combines into quite a high variance, which means that sometimes you win big and sometimes you land nothing at all. The top prize is over 2000 times your bet, so rolling the dice a few times is definitely worth the hassle.
Features
If you roll the dice just right and land on a bonus wheel symbol the first special feature is activated. This is a simple bonus wheel which pays out immediate cash prizes, these you get to keep even if you don’t make it all the way to the top. Possible wins range between 0.5 to 50 times your total bet.
The main feature is found at the end of the board. The Crystal Banana Quest launches once you reach it, and this gives you the chance to pick one chest among many. Each crate is filled with different symbols, and these are added to the total tally, greatly increasing any and all payouts from the current round.
Our Take
The downside is the linear gameplay. Then again, that is not so different from other games. It does mean that the game will eventually become a bit too repetitive. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as it gives you a proper reason to stop playing once you have had your fund. All things considered, this slot is certainly worth trying. The only difficulty is finding a casino to play this game at!
