Who is Aztar?

Not a clue to be honest. This slot is the first time I even hear of the character. Nevertheless, we are speaking of a centaur that is part of the Greek mythology.

…this is one of those many Greek Gods slots, albeit one that manages to actually bring something new to the theme. Once again, we are on the search for lost fortunes. Leander Games has done a good job with this installment.

Theme

Adventure, danger, riches, and mythical beasts are the main themes here. The music and sound effects are very ominous, somehow still keeping up the upbeat feeling of the game.

The symbols are a combination of themed icons and the basic playing card ranks. The latter could have been done away with, as they break the immersion a bit. There is a nice mix of engaging animations both in the main game and in special features.

Betting Options and Functions

This slot has 25 fixed pay-lines, five reels with three symbols each, and an interface that works both on mobile and desktop devices. Nothing out of the ordinary there.

The bet level has options for ALL pockets, giving a range between 0.25 and 100 coins per spin. The RTP stands right above the industry standard.

The wild is the most valuable symbol, paying out 500 times the line bet for a combo of five. The second most valuable symbol offers a return of 200 times the line bet, and from there the prizes drop quickly.

With the playing cards, you are looking at a return between 4 and 50 times the line bet, depending on how many symbols are in the combination.

Features

An animated fight takes place when ‘Shoot the Beast’ feature starts. Whenever Aztar himself is on the screen, one of four different beasts might try to tackle him. This activates the beast mode where all matching symbols are locked and the reels are spun again with some more beast symbols added.

Three crystals on reels will activate the ‘Crystal’ bonus. This is a bit of a point and click adventure, where the player needs to choose which arrows to use to escape danger. Choose the right one and you will get a prize, choose the wrong one and the game will end!

The beast hunter mode activates the bonus games. Initially, ten bonus games are awarded, but you can get more if you manage to hunt down the beasts. The goal is to land arrows, which in turn will be fired at the monsters, which when defeated will turn all matching symbols into wilds on the screen. Extra bonus game will be awarded for each defeated beast.

Our Take

The game comes with a style and feel that is somewhat unique. Certainly, it breathes a bit of new life into the age-old theme of Greek mythology.
The game offers plenty of special features and offers quite sizeable prizes for those lucky enough to land the top symbols.
