Shield icons are substitutes, which allows them to replace all symbols except the castle scatter. You can also specify a special reel, known as ‘slide a wild’, by moving the flashing marker at the top of the reels. This special reel will include stacked wilds, which work in the same way but could technically mean the whole reel is filled with wilds (slide a wild reels include 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x and 6x multipliers when selecting reel 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 accordingly).
