Who wants to be a millionaire?!
That’s a phrase heard all around the world in various languages. You know what TV show we’re talking about.
Red Tiger Gaming, the studio behind 100K Drop, has managed to capture the essence of the show and turn it into a proper gaming experience. Truth be told, the task wasn’t so hard…
…considering that the objective of both games is kinda similar.
One of the main reasons people applied for their chance in the hot seat was the inherent volatility of the game. Even though only a few ever did it, everyone had the chance to win big.
A similar principle applies to this title. It is a highly volatile game with a special feature that has the potential to really make your day!
Theme
The moment you fire up the game, you’re fully immersed into an environment almost identical to that of the show. There’s nothing subtle about it. A dark room with a bunch of raging spotlights – all focused on the hot chair in the middle.
If you remember the show, you’ll recognize the neon blue and violet motifs which are present in every facet of the theme. Symbols share a fairly similar design. Lower paying ones come in the form of letters and numbers while higher paying ones are much less subtle than that.
What did they choose?
Stacks, suitcases and even safes full of cash. It doesn’t get much more up-front and in-your-face than that.
If you had any shadow of a doubt where they got the inspiration from…
… cymbal sound effects which just about everyone recognizes by now will clear it all up. The cool thing about this title are all of the visual effects they’ve added. Every move you make is followed by an animation of some sort.
Whether it is a pair of spotlights crossing each other out, or a more complex animation, everything looks on the level.
Betting Options and Functions
This is another title where you’ll see a minimalist user interface. Red Tiger Gaming strived to remove as much clutter as possible. A clutter-free interface is a fast interface and that is exactly what you’d want.
As usual, all of the controls are located at the bottom of the screen. All the way to the left is your bet selection window. Once you click the amount, you’ll open a slider where you can choose bets ranging from 0.20 to 40 credits!
That is a decent upper limit considering that 100K Drop offers 20 paylines on a 5 reel, 3-row setup.
Right next to the bet selection menu is the autoplay button. Clicking on it opens a prompt where…
…you can adjust the number of spins you want to play. You can also set loss and win limitations.
The right side of the menu reveals a large, gold-colored spin button, but also a small turbo button right next to it.
The Turbo feature is an interesting one. While a normal spin takes a few seconds to complete the entire cycle, turbo mode reduces the time necessary to a single second!
That way you don’t have to sit through the animation every time you spin the reels.
High Stakes Special Feature
The more you play this game, the more apparent it becomes that the theme is not the only thing they’ve borrowed from the show.
Some of the inspiration went into the mini-game.
As you might expect, you’ll need to hit three scatter symbols to activate this feature. Once you do, you’re taken to a new screen with four trap doors. At the center of the screen is a stack of cash that represents your balance with a 2000x added multiplier!
Your objective is to distribute the cash between the trapdoors, but there’s a catch!
You can only place the money three out of the four trapdoors. Once you’re done, three trapdoors will open and any cash left on them is gone. Money left on the last trapdoor is yours.
In the next round of the bonus game, you’re presented with 3 trapdoors instead of 4. There are 4 rounds in total. And each features a decreasing number of doors. If you manage to pull through all 4 rounds, whatever cash is left on the table is yours to keep.
Overall, you don’t see this type of features in classic slots games.
Our Take:
100K Drop offers a refreshing player experience. The software provider behind this title took all of the best elements from the show and implemented them into the game.
You have the atmosphere, the music and most importantly, the high-stakes gameplay! If you watched the show and enjoyed it, you’ll absolutely love this game.
