Aberrant Software
Aberrant Software seems to have been established around 2010 to answer the growing demands of online bingo markets. The company is, or was, located in Ontario, Canada, and it served casino players in most western markets. They specialized in developing technology as much as gaming products themselves.
But what happened to Aberrant Software, and are they still operating? That’s something that we will try and find out here. The company seems to have been quite active in the early years, quickly expanding its portfolio to cover games like scratch cards, video poker, online slots, keno, as well as some other card games. Let’s have a look at how all this pans out.
Bingo, Slots and Software
Online bingo seems to have been one of the main products for this company. They also partnered with once-respected sites like Maria Casino (then known as Maria Bingo), Utopia Bingo, and Feliz Bingo. These sites have either gone out of business, or turned into unethical business practices. None of them offers bingo games from Aberrant Software anymore. This also has to do with the fact that they don’t hold any of the European licenses, and thus can’t really offer games in the area.
One of the reasons for this might become quite obvious once you take a look at their other games, which might still be available here and there. The design principles are very old-school. Especially when it comes to graphics. These sites did not offer networked bingo, instead opting for individual sites to offer their own rooms. They did come with support for different currencies and languages. 30 ball, 75 ball, 80 ball and 90 ball bingo rooms were available in varying formats.
What about the other games…
…are the slots, video poker and other such titles still somewhere to be played? At the moment it seems like this is not the case. Even if some sites still list Aberrant Software as part of their package, the games are not to be found on the sites. The original selection was quite big, with the overall catalogue nearing a hundred different titles. However, these games are mostly outdated both in design and execution, with old graphics and interface that doesn’t necessarily even support play on mobile devices.
Present and Future
When it comes to offering online casino games this company seems to have simply vanished. Their site has been last updated back in 2018, which pretty much coincides with some of the legislation introduced that pushed them out of European markets.
At the same time, the company might not be completely out of the picture yet. They seem to have transformed into consulting services, offering everything from web design to software testing and game skinning and design. Whatever the case, it seems pretty obvious that Aberrant Software is not something the casino player will run into anymore.
