Longhorn Casino

When visitors think of Las Vegas, the first thing that comes to mind is the opulence, extravagance, aesthetic appeal and decadence of The Strip and casinos thereon...The Longhorn Casino is the exact opposite of that, but it sure is fun! This casino resembles something as close to a, "Sawdust Joint," as you're likely to find nowadays with its concrete floor and otherwise nondescript surroundings. Aside from the eating venue inside of the casino, this place really serves no other purpose than gaming. While we would be hard-pressed to expect someone to make an entire day out of this casino, it is a place that has been known to have excellent values ands promotions, and fortunately, it is located right across the street from two of the larger Boulder Highway casinos in Sam's Town and Eastside Cannery. While the Longhorn Casino does not have its own website, it updates its Facebook page very regularly (often more than once per day) to advise players of promotions, deals and specials, so one would be advised to check out their page and see what's going on if you're going to be in the area.

Gaming

The casino offers 240 of the latest slot, video poker and video keno games and posts Progressive Slots that rival even the largest of Vegas casinos. The house offers one Video Poker game that pays nearly 99% in the form of 98.91% LV Airport/Illinois Deuces Wild 44. While this is certainly not the best paytable available in Vegas, in the past, it could be a decent play combined with the right promotion. The Longhorn Casino offers four Table Games, all of which are Blackjack. The most interesting aspect about the rules, and this is one of the only (if not the only) casinos on Earth that offers this, but you can double-down after hitting. For instance, if a player had 6-5 and the dealer was showing a six, that's a clear double-down situation, but if a player has 2-3 (five total) and the dealer shows a six, then the player would simply hit. However, in this game, if the player hits for a total of 9-11 (situations in which one would double-down against a six with that total) then the player can still double! In most casinos, some sacrifice would have to be made by the player, such as being paid 6-TO-5 on Blackjack, but not here, this is just a place for some of the most liberal Blackjack a player is likely to find. As if that weren't enough, the Longhorn has a long-standing reputation (and may still) offer some of the only $2 Blackjack that can be found, and certainly the only $2 Blackjack with these player-friendly rules. Almost surprisingly, this casino also features a William Hill Sports Book location.

Hotel/Accommodations

The Longhorn Casino does not operate a hotel, however, it is physically connected to the non-affiliated Longhorn Hotel. The hotel has a video arcade, guest laundry, outdoor pool and an outdoor Jacuzzi. One might notice that most websites mistakenly list this venue as the Longhorn Hotel & Casino, but the hotel is actually a completely separate business entity. For those looking to stay in a larger casino-hotel, but wish to be at one close to this venue, Eastside Cannery and Sam's Town are both very sizable casino-hotels located right across Boulder Highway.

Dining

The Longhorn Casino features a casual dining restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner around the clock and is known for some of the more budget-friendly prices along Boulder Highway.

Entertainment/Nightlife

Unfortunately, the Longhorn doesn't have much to it besides the casino and restaurant, but there's plenty of entertainment to be had and Sam's Town and Eastside Cannery casinos across the street.

Rewards/Deals

This casino operates a Player's Club known as The Big Shot Player's Club. Members of this club enjoy exclusive offers and promotions. Further, Longhorn has been known to offer promotions such as, "Free Ace," on Blackjack as well as being occasionally known for hosting Blackjack Tournaments in which 100% of the buy-ins are paid out in prize money.
