I had a blast at Valley Forge while staying in the tower for 3 nights on a business trip. First night after tossing my suitcase on the bed i rode back down to casino and wandered around, played several slots, did some roulette, drank some spirits... and as a poker player I kept eyeing this three-card game that had a lot of people's attention. Knowing myself as well as I do, plus the fact it's a table game where you play against the house. with the meeting in the morning, i kept giving cadence to the half of my brain saying "no, better not" I 'd walk away for a little bit but eventually drift right back on the rail. One thing i want to point out is that everyone was *so* friendly up there, being from the South.; as this was my first trip that far North, i was under the impression that the "mean ol' northerners" would be just that! I hate to admit but I was impressed how happy and nice everybody up there actually was! These regulars would talk about the rules and strategy, even showing a peak at their cards to help me (or anyone) learn. Well finally a spot opened up and I figured i would give it a go and pulled out a couple hundred extra from the magic money machine, to have a bit of a pad and sat down. I sat there with these locals and regulars, plenty of encouragement from the spirits, and being an NLHE player mostly, I kept wanting to put in! I did this a couple times.. until the friendly local next to me asked about my cards and while they were good he said nah, don't do that, you'll see. With his experienced tips, i sure enough got the gist down quick! Despite having a business meeting in the morning, i stayed on that table with them until 2:30am and i had $1400 in chips! The only reason we *had* to stop playing was for them to change out the cash box, and i was told it would be like 20 minutes.. I was so thankful for that, because i didn't realize until then what time it actually was., realizing i had to be up in less than 5 hours and I hadn't eaten, they don't bring food by quite as often as they do drinks! Luckily enough out of the 5 restaurants you can choose from in the hotel the pizza place was still baking fresh slices. The next night, i was played it cool, saw some of the local attractions before ending back up at the hotel. No more three card for me, but i did enter a promotional black jack tournament and busted pretty quick as it was a late-reg situation and i don't even like black jack, just did it for the chance to win! That being said, i witnessed an old timer win ~$198,000 Ace high straight diamond flush jackpot on the BJ tables and he just sat there while this other dude was freaking out, i think he got $5000 just for being at the table., but it was pretty entertaining seeing him flip out while that old man just sat there happy, they were both regulars as well! Overall, the friendliness of staff and visitors, cleanliness of the casino, restrooms and all, the place was secure and safe i was leaving $1000-1500 on the table and going to relieve myself every hour or so... did i mention the drinks kept flowing by? Hehe. I got lucky and my room was on the top floor of the tower, nice spacious room, comfortable furniture, and good size desk to work at. The shower could have fit about 8 people in it, just saying it you had a reason to it really would accommodate it! Other side of the hotel is the Valley Tavern, great place for breakfast, dinner, beers at the bar... I did not eat at the Chophouse, there were other ventures i wanted go on and experience while in the area my first time. I am happy to give them a 5 for the whole experience. Win or lose it was a great, entertaining, and safe time!
